HOW  TO CONFRONT MALAYSIA?

National strength of a nation is largely determined by the quality of state diplomacy. According to Morgenthau (1990: 213) the quality of a country's diplomacy, providing direction and quality for other elements as elements of state power. A good diplomacy can bring the various elements of national power to produce the maximum effect in dealing with problems and situations at the international level have a direct impact on national interests.

In conducting diplomacy, must understand, the task contained in it are: diplomacy must determine the purpose of considering the real and potential power available to achieve objectives; diplomacy must assess the purpose and power of other nations (real and potential power) to achieve goals; diplomacy must know with certainty, whether the objectives of each element is packed in comprehensive and diplomacy must use the appropriate tools to achieve goals. Failure in any one of these tasks can endanger the success of foreign policy and including world peace.

If the diplomacy of a country is not capable of judging other peoples goals and strengths, will face the risk and invite potential war. A country that wants an intelligent foreign policy and peace must always compare his own goals and objectives are clearly other countries so that they can predict the most likely form of agreement that can be achieved, and can determine the method of approach in conducting diplomacy, if persuasive, compromise or threat of violence .

Diplomacy quality is very influential on the role of the elements of national power of others, namely geography, population quality, natural resources, economic strength and military preparedness. Elements of this element of national power without the support of diplomacy will not mean quality, not being able to play internationally. By simply relying on natural resources, which can not be managed alone, will only result in totally Finished natural, wealth does not benefit the interests of the people. For example, the condition of the state of Indonesia, the government has been to "claim" that the country is very rich in natural resources. An excellent diplomat, is a master of personal duty and understanding of the factors that influence others, to understand about national interests and nationalist spirit, so all the dedication were deployed to defend national interests.

Economic development must be conducive to strengthening defense tool, because the realities facing Indonesia now is the threat to sovereignty and the dignity of a nation of Indonesia. The war will result in misery for the people, but with the development that is able to provide employment for the people will improve welfare and raise the dignity of the Indonesian nation.
